Introducing superkindme

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

It’s a great feeling starting a blog. An empty page full of possibilities. I’ve wanted to write a blog for many years but unfortunately it always got pushed down the list of priorities. Now, newly determined more than ever to fulfil my ambitions; finally, I’ve done it. The reason I’ve so keenly wanted to write over the years marries with my growing belief in the power of kindness, namely being kind to yourself and ultimately to others. I am passionate about young people believing in themselves; and very specifically designing strategies to enable them to overcome the huddles of life and enjoy their young adulthood. It’s taken me what feels like a long, long time to develop my own strategies, through trial and error, to accept myself and, mostly, go through life with a positive and confident outlook. Working in the performing arts with young people for well over a decade, in fact, now 15 years, I’ve seen time and time again how so many young people struggle with their self-image, and confidence. The performing arts is a transformative subject in the development of life skills; through the process of rehearsing and performing, an individual can eventually be transformed from a shy, uncertain individual to a confident, brave team player who is ready to tackle life’s obstacles. But what I’ve always feared is whether those young people fully understand the processes involved in this transformation. They have always appreciated this transformation; reflected in the many letters of thanks received over the years, but the question for me is, do they have concrete strategies that they can use to empower them on every day of the week, not just on performing arts days? My passion in this series of blogs is to share some of my strategies. Each idea will normally be supported with an exercise designed for young (or indeed old!) adults to follow, which ultimately will aid you in becoming more confident, more accepting of themselves and more kind to yourself and others.
